PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

Traditionally, culture is the gold standard for clinical diagnosis of tuberculosis(TB). Although very sensitive, this requires 4~6 weeks to grow the MTB complex. The MTB complex may also be cultivated in a broth-based medium and detected by fluorescence, but this still takes more than one week and increases the cost. In summary, there is great urgency to develop a rapid and accurate method to screen for the MTB complex.
DR. MTBC Screen Kit is based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the detection of MTB complex in clinical samples. A specific segment of gene from the MTB complex is amplified and hybridized with target probe pre-spotted on the well. It provides a fast screen result of MTB complex with great sensitivity and specificity. Furthermore, it also decreases the detection cost.

DR. MTBC Screen Kit can only provide qualitative results, and is not designed for a quantitative purpose.
